Homework Analysis of a Website 11/16/10

1. The URL doesn't have any signs of personal names or special symbols so it is safe to assume that it's not a personal page.
2. I have not ever heard of Small Planets Communications, Inc. But the incorporation has its own copyright on the page so that's another trust builder.
3. There are not links in the bottom footnote, but the page does provide a properly-cited bibliography.
4. The last dated copyright was back in the year 2000. This could challenge the credibility of the information provided.
5. The creator of the site is Small Planets Communications, Inc. I can tell from truncating it that the site was meant to help teachers and students learn and that it has a bibliography of all of its sources.
6. The footnote only contains information on how to contact it.
7. Using alexa.com, there are 371 sites linked to it. I believe I can trust it.
8. My gut say it's a good website to trust.

In-Class Analysis of a Website

1. The URL seems to be trustworthy. There are not personal names or special symbols in it.
2. Regents seem to be a credible source. The symbol of a Kaplan Cap over the state of New York could symbolize the Education Dept. of New York or a facility of education in New York.
3. Examing the links that connect to the page, I can tell that it is credible because it is linked to the Oswego City School District Regents Exam Prep Center.
4. I can't fully verify all the information given for I have a limited knowledge of imperialism.
5. The creator of the site is Thomas Caswell. The link that connects his name to another page seems to be missing though.
6. The links in the footnotes connect to the Oswego City School District Exam Prep Center. That is a trustworthy site.
7. Looking at alexa.com, it seems that 731 sites link to it so I can trust it.
8. My gut says its a legit site.
